Our Love  Story

Javan & Louise

05.18.26

It all began on a Sabbath day (Saturday), October 5, 2019. I went to church with my cousin at Bangon SDA Church, and that’s where I first saw Louise. She was stunning, wearing a dress that reminded me of Ellen G. White. I was instantly captivated love at first sight. Too shy to approach her directly, I asked my cousin to find out where she usually worshipped. When I found out she worshipped at Matutuna SDA Church, I told my cousin we should go there the next Sabbath. That afternoon, I prayed earnestly, asking God to let our paths cross again.

The following week, however, we couldn’t go because of our regular Jail Ministry.

A year later, in May 2020 during the pandemic, fate brought us together once more. Louise was working at a missionary bakeshop to support her studies—she was in her third year of college then. My friend happened to pick up an order to be sent to Simara Island, and he was surprised to see her there. When he told me, I wasted no time. The next morning, we went to the bakeshop, pretending to buy lots of veggie products, but in truth, I just wanted to see her. She was cheerful and delighted by our big order, not knowing we resold the products afterward just to cover the expense. (haha)

From then on, we began seeing each other at church activities. We weren’t close yet, but one day, Louise saw my name pop up on Facebook as a friend suggestion. She recognized me, added me, and I accepted instantly with a smile. I messaged her right away: “Hey, what’s up?” That was the start of us truly getting to know each other.

We began jogging together by the seaside in the mornings. I often treated her to meals, drove her to places, and helped her with assignments since we were in the same course and major. During the pandemic, when studying was tough, I supported her not only academically but also in her side jobs so she could earn allowance until she graduated.

After graduation, Louise prepared for the board exam while job hunting. By God’s grace, she passed and secured a permanent teaching position. At that time, we were in a long-distance relationship—she was in Romblon, and I was in Santa Fe. Though apart, we focused on our careers and saved money to buy land and build a house, preparing for marriage.

Six years later, in 2026, our dream came true. We now have our own home and are ready for the next chapter of our lives together. As Isaiah 60:22 says: “When the time is right, I, the Lord will make it happen.”
