Our Love  Story

It all started with a cap — a simple moment in high school that quietly became the beginning of Kate and Jhay-Ar’s forever. Kate was in 3rd year high school, and Jhay-Ar was already in 4th year. During their CAT (Citizenship Advancement Training) Kate didn’t have a cap, and among everyone in line, Jhay-Ar was the one who noticed her and gave her his spare one — a small gesture that neither of them knew would mean everything someday.

They were complete opposites — Jhay-Ar, the extrovert who easily connects with everyone, and Kate, the introvert who often came across as aloof and intimidating, but was really just reserved. Even in what they thought they wanted, they didn’t seem like a match at first: Kate preferred someone serious in life and tall, while Jhay-Ar hoped for someone soft-spoken and gentle. Yet despite not fitting each other’s “standards,” life led them to exactly the person they were meant to find. What started as a small spark between them slowly grew into something steady and enduring — like a current that quietly found its way home. They weren’t each other’s first crush, but they became each other’s first love — Jhay-Ar as Kate’s first boyfriend, and Kate as his first girlfriend. Together, they learned love for the first time, discovering a connection that was simple, real, and lasting.

From simple conversations to shared school memories, their connection slowly deepened. Life then revealed another quiet twist — they were both taking Electrical Engineering, as if their paths had always been designed to meet at the same circuit. Like many young love stories, theirs also faced a season of distance. During Kate’s 4th year in high school and Jhay-Ar’s 1st year in college, immaturity and timing pulled them apart, and for a while, they lost the spark they once had. But even then, something between them never fully disconnected. When they ended up in the same department in college, fate gently brought them back into each other’s lives. Slowly, what was once interrupted found continuity again — stronger, steadier, and more certain.

Through the years, Kate and Jhay-Ar grew together, choosing each other through every phase of life. Even when life tested their resistance, they stayed connected — learning that real love, like electricity, may be unseen but is always powerful, always present, and never easily broken. Together, they built a bond that no distance or interruption could short-circuit. Their journey reached a beautiful turning point on February 3, 2025, when Jhay-Ar finally sealed their promise through a ring during Kate’s favorite artist, TJ Monterde’s concert — a moment filled with music, emotion, and a love that had waited years to be fully chosen.

Last September 27, 2025, they celebrated 10 beautiful years of love, growth, and choosing each other through every season. From a borrowed cap in high school to a lifetime built together, Kate and Jhay-Ar’s story is a reminder that even opposites, when perfectly connected, can create a love that powers forever.
