Our Love Story

Let me share with you our love story, and to start with, how we met: Deniela was my older sister’s friend and college classmate.

I first laid eyes on her when she and her friends came to our house for my sister’s post-graduation celebration. If I recall correctly, it was the 8th of April, 2018. I first noticed her as they were leaving to go home; I found her so cute with her curly hair and beautiful smile. My aunt-in-law caught the look I gave her and started teasing me immediately. From that moment on, she was spinning in my head like a top. The first thing I did was ask my sister about her and send a friend request on Facebook—though it took her quite a while to accept.

The following month, during the fiesta celebration of our patron, San Rafael, she was invited, along with her friend, Jocel, to stay the night at our home. The night before the fiesta, there was a traditional dance called a "bayle." I really wanted to ask her to dance, but I was nervous—especially after I saw her turn down a batchmate because she was feeling shy.

Then, a crazy thought came to mind: if I asked her to dance, she might not turn me down out of courtesy. Luckily, it worked. That remains one of the happiest moments of my life.

When the day came for us to return to Laguna, I decided to buy her flowers and chocolates on the way to the airport to formally confess my admiration. I couldn't hand them to her personally because she and her friends went to church, but that night, she initiated our very first phone call just to thank me. That was the beginning of our endless messages and late-night calls until she finally said "YES" last February 23, 2019.

Now, here we are, finally tying the knot on this June 18, 2026. Our love story wouldn’t have come to fruition without the supportive people around us. It hasn’t always been as smooth sailing as the fairytales we watched growing up, but our story is unique. It may not be perfect, but with God as our witness, it is indeed a story of TRUE LOVE ❤️.
